How do I properly care for my candle?
When burning your candle for the first time, let it burn for at least 1.5 hour to allow the top of the wax to melt entirely. It will form a natural melt pool inside the glass and prevent tunneling in the future!
Remember to always trim your wick to 2mm-4mm before each use.
In any case, do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time and never burn a candle all the way through - discontinue use when there is 1.5cm of wax remaining. Wash tin under the hot water, reuse, repurpose, relove or... recycle ♻️
What do I do if my wooden wick flames out?
If your wooden wick keeps on flaming out, it probably means that it is either too long or short.
We advise trimming your wick for a proper burn. Ideally you can do it with a wick trimmer or alternatively with a nail clipper (using your nails might also work, but be careful not to burn yourself). Remember to regularly trim the wicks of your candles to ensure a smooth burn. We recommend a length of 2mm – 4mm.
How to stop my candle from tunneling?
To prevent tunneling, you need to burn your candle long enough each time so that the entire top surface of wax is melted (we advise 1.5 hour). This is especially important the first time you burn your candle.
My candle is tunneling! What can I do?
First of all, don´t worry :)
You can fix a tunneled candle by wrapping a piece of aluminum foil around the edges and simply letting it burn. Make sure the foil hangs over the built-up wax areas, but leave an opening in the center so the wick can still burn properly.
Alternatively, you can use a heat gun (if you have one) or hair dryer (on low speed & high heat settings) to melt excess wax on the sides. Gently heat the top surface of the candle from an appropriate distance.
How to reuse, repurpose or recycle my candle jar? How to clean the glass?
In order to reuse, repurpose or recycle your candle, you need to first clean the glass jar.
Cleaning
All rescent candle jars are made from certified high-quality glass containers produced in the Polish glass manufactory and can be very easily cleaned in 4 steps:
1. Boil water.
2. Pour the water into the candle jar. Only fill the jar halfway as the wax will rise to the surface on its own.
3. Let it stand until the water cools down and the wax is on the surface.
4. Remove the wax and clean the jar. Remove the rest of remaining wick.
Reuse / Repurpose
Rescent candle jars are perfect fit for succulents 🪴, baby plants 🌱 or herbs.
The internal diameter of the jar is 8.5 cm (85 mm), which is a standard pot size used in the gardening.
Besides, rescent candle jars are a great size for toiletries 💄 like makeup brushes , cotton swabs, hair ties or clips. You can also use empty jars to organise your home-office supplies ✏️
